JimmyZ Shares Exclusive Strategies for Being a MASSIVELY Productive Entrepreneur
By: Jim Zaspel
There are thousands of books written on this topic, and for good reason: it’s extremely important! Have you ever gotten to the end of a “busy” day/week/month/year and wondered what it was that you did while you were so “busy?” Fighting distractions, staying focused, and time-management are all battles that every person will fight until the day they die. Get used to it; stop thinking that someday you’ll get past it…you won’t. You will simply either succumb to it or learn to master it actively, but you’ll never get past it.
Today I’m going to show you a simple 3-step process that I use to ensure that I am not only productive in a general sense but productive in accomplishing MY goals. Understand that what I’m going to discuss is a subset of long-term goal setting and developing your personal mission statement. To learn more about those two topics, I recommend “Goals” by Brian Tracy, and “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey.
Ok, on we go to help you conquer the daily B.S. that you face as a business owner…
1) Goal Setting – It’s Monday morning…your feet hit the floor and your head is spinning with all that has to be done this week, today, and this morning…now! Your day begins at 100mph, and it continues at that pace until you “crash” in front of the “Automatic Income Reducer”…more commonly known as your television.
What’s wrong with this picture??? If that describes you, then your life is disorganized, un-productive, and what I call “reactionary”…in other words, you’re flying by the seat of your pants
Ok Jim Zaspel…how do I simplify, organize, and increase the effectiveness of my work life? Here it is: Plan! Someone once said, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” I don’t know about you, but failure is not an option for me. The solution to this is simple: spend just 30-90 minutes every Saturday or Sunday to plot out your upcoming week. In other words, set your weekly goals. This gives such a tremendous sense of structure to your life…it feels amazing! (weekly goals should be derived from you monthly goals, which are derived from you yearly goals, which are derived from your personal and/or business mission statement.)
Every week when I sit down to plot out the following week, I ask myself, “What’s going in JimmyZHomes?” “What needs to change in JimmyZHomes?” “What goals does JimmyZHomes have?” You get the idea…
2) Never go to bed without planning tomorrow’s tasks. OH MY GOODNESS!!! This ONE step right here has done so much for my life – I sleep better, I get more done, and I actually accomplish my goals!
Every night, spend 20 minutes create the following day’s to-do list. In large part, this will be derived from your weekly goals. This allows your mind to “turn off” when you go to bed, it allows your sub conscience to “work” on tomorrow’s tasks while you’re sleeping, and it allows you to be incredibly purposeful and productive from the first moment of your day.
More than anything else, this helps me to be incredibly productive. I can’t stress this enough.
OK that’s enough for today…let it soak in. Read it over a few times so that you begin to envision yourself doing it. On tomorrow’s blog, I’m going to let you in on the simplest yet MOST effective of the threel tools that make me so productive! It’s crazy awesome!
Till tomorrow…
To your success,
Jim Zaspel
