How to Keep Momentum in Your Business, even Through the Holidays
With family visiting from out of town, Christmas presents to buy, holidays, food comas, and all of the seasonal festivities, it is very easy to completely lose focus on your business and just “get by” at this time of the year. In my experience and opinion, these next five weeks tend to be the LEAST productive weeks of the year…but it doesn’t have to be that way!
A Unique Opportunity for Your Real Estate Business over the Holiday Season
With most all of your competition slacking off for the next five weeks, this season offers a tremendous opportunity for you to gain a competitive advantage in the market place. Not only that, but with all the traveling and busy-ness of the holidays, there are some critical do’s and don’ts for marketing over the next five weeks. Lastly, if you do the right things over the next five weeks, it could literally make all the difference in the success that you have next year in your business.
Marketing DO’s and DON’T’s for the Holiday Season
If you’ve heard much of my training, you know that I’m a huge fan of direct mail, but mailing a few hundred mail pieces the week of each of the three up upcoming holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s) is largely a waste of money. If you’re dead set on mailing the letters, just double-up the following week, because during the week of each holiday, people are completely consumed with festivities. However, bandit signs work GREAT during the holiday season, because everyone is out and about driving around. So, if you were to put out bandit signs the day before each holiday and/or holiday weekend, with all the additional traffic, your response rate will sky-rocket.
How to Increase Your Productivity AND have Additional Family Time
Most people approach this season thinking something like, “Oh well, I really need (and want!) to spend some extra time with my family, so I guess I’m just not going to get as much work accomplished for the next several weeks.” …NONSENSE! It absolutely does NOT have to be that way. You see, if you simply implement this simple time-tracking technique for the next five weeks, your effectiveness and productive will increase so much that you will suddenly have extra time on your hands! The key here is to track your time meticulously. When you do this right, you will be able to look back at any day that you tracked your time, and know exactly how you spend every minute of the day.
Have you ever wondered where the day went? Have you ever felt like you were “busy” all day, but almost nothing on your to-do list got accomplished? There can be many reasons for this, but the most common reason is because you weren’t mindful of how you spent your time; you largely reacted to situations instead of purposefully carrying out tasks that get you closer to your goals for your life. Whether you use a tablet of paper or your mobile device, the amount of time you spend on each task should be documented down to the minute. This does a few things for you: 1, it makes you aware of how you spend your time, 2, it can prevent you from wasting time just because you don’t want to “face” yourself by having to document the time-wasting activity, and 3, it shows you how you are spending your time so you know where to “trim the fat” from your schedule.
Oh wow…this blog is getting long! I’m going to have to finish it in a separate blog. On the next blog, we’ll discuss exactly how to use the next five weeks to gain massive momentum for your life in the New Year. Seriously, it’s going to blow your mind 🙂
