I’m not asking what your mission statement is, I’m asking you when it comes down to it, what is your company supposed to do or provide?
Here’s the Magic Answer
The only reason any for-profit company should exist is to provide as much profit as possible to its shareholders (YOU!)…by doing good. Don’t forget that last part! And…don’t forget the first part, too. They’re both mission-critical
How is Real Estate Investing “good”?
Oh my gosh…I’m glad you asked! This has to do with the roots of true capitalism! In today’s crazy society, capitalism is perceived to be synonymous with greed, but nothing could be further from the truth. Capitalism has to do with providing goods and services that others want and are willing to voluntarily purchase, i.e. part with their hard-earned money to obtain.
But back to the question…
If you buy a bank-owned foreclosure, you’re helping the bank, the neighbors of the ugly house you bought, your helping the contractor, you’re increasing the value of the entire community, you’re providing an income to the Realtor and his/her family, and not to mention all the laborers at the various manufacturing companies that provide the materials your contractor uses to renovate the house! And last but not least…let’s not forget the buyer who buys the house…along with their Realtor, inspector, mortgage broker, lender, title company, movers, and a handful of others they’ll deal with throughout the process of buying a house from you.
“But Wait, There’s More!”
So you’ve flipped a house and helped all of these people, but what about YOU?!? Can we really say that profiting from this deal is a good thing? Heck yes, and here’s why:
Again, besides the long list of people I just listed that you helped, you have presumably dealt honestly with all involved, which is a good thing, you’ve abided by all laws (a good thing), but more than that…you put food on the table for YOUR family!
It’s so damn sad how many lives are turned upside down, families torn apart, lives ended, and relationships strained because of a lack of money in someone’s life, but in this business, you have the ability and opportunity to prevent that kind of crap from affecting your family. Good for you!
Be thankful for the opportunity you have in this business, and hold your head high, knowing that by making a ton of money in this business, you’re helping countless people. You’re playing an integral role in our economy by helping others and making lot so money…it’s the American way!
Last But Not Least…
As you look forward to the new year, let this knowledge of the good you are doing for others motivate and inspire you to accomplish ALL that you can!
To YOUR Success,
Jim Zaspel
